Onwards!

First unit completed!

I have completed Sir Armande's Unit of Knights! Next I will work on Lord Gawain's Unit. I have decided that they will also be red except I will add some blue into their barding or robes.

Questing Knight

First Questing Knight done

Lady Lauren has a new look

I think giving her more lively colours, as well as a different horse (Wood Elf Steed) has made her much more interesting and stands out more in my army as something special as my Prophetess should be.

main deployment

the spells my Prophetess got
I was very happy with the spells I got but I never managed to cast anything all game so it didn't really matter.

He vanguards his horsemen up to threaten my knights errant and trebuchet.

Yellow: Liche
Red: Tomb King
Grail knights on far end of the table

My overall plan is to slow down his warriors on the left with my mounted yeoman, Send my Lords unit into the chariots and through to the giant, send Sir Armande's unit into the archers to kill his Heirophant and tie his tomb guard up with my errant knights.

Casket kills 3 knights

My first turn, Errant knights are 1" away from Tomb Guard. I don't want to lose more knights than I have to to tie them up.

I chaff his warriors and chariots with my Yeomen.

Trebuchet scatters from the giant onto his casket but fails to wound.

He charges his Tomb Guard and Horsemen into my errant knights and his warriors fail to redirect into my second unit of Yeomen.

His Ushabti move towards the battle.

His Liche Preist miscasts on casting the boosted 5+ ward save and rolls a 5, kills 3 archers in total due to the ward save.

Skull catapults kill 2 knights

Archers shoot Yeomen.

Lose combat but hold on a 10 due to Crown of Command and the Generals boosted Ld of 10.

Grail Knights charge into the rear of the horsemen, the BSB's unit goes into the archers and the Lords unit goes into the chariots.

Trebuchet falls apart trying to shoot something

My knights easily clean up the archers and Heirophant.
Casket gets destroyed due to crumbling.

His giant and warriors charge my knights and the Ushabti charge the Yeomen that were here but they flee.

3 Yeomen die to dangerous terrain/fleeing through the Tomb Guard.

His giant kills my Questing Paladin before he can strike.

Errant knights all get killed and just the Prophetess remains, she is out of the Generals Ld and the re-roll from the BSB and runs 11 but gets caught.

Trebuchet kills many Tomb Guard, Grail knights get into position to charge giant and the other knights reform to be able to also charge the giant or warriors if it dies.

He fails to do any wounds and I do a few, winning by 5 and putting 4 on the giant.

Combat and crumbling reduces the warriors to a man.

BSB's knights charge the Tomb Guard and the Paladin challenges the King, taking a wound and doing nothing in return. In total I kill 5 guard.

Ushabti charge my Lords unit and kill him, Tomb King finishes off the Paladin and I win combat by 1.

Grail knights charge in and save the day! my Lords unit only takes 1 wound and wins combat.

BSB's unit charges in and finishes off the Ushabti.

I killed every single enemy model and all I had left was my 2 knight of the realm units, my grail knights, my trebuchet and Sir Armande. A win for Bretonnia by 1300 points! However, the Prince we are after got away before the battle...

The Crusade continues!

Rallying the Knights

Lord Gawain's Crusade!

My Bretonnian army is on crusade in the continent of Araby, pursing the mischievous Tomb Prince who has slain Gawain's father among many of the Dukes of Bretonnia. Lord Gawain is the privileged lord to be assigned the task of pursing this Undead Fiend and to bring him to justice.

Most of my units will have white barding and various colour trim. For example, Knights of the realm will all have a red trim except for my lord's unit, who will be blue, matching my lords colour. Most of my peasants will also be in my lords crusading colour.

-Lord Gawain-

I used the Green Knight model for my Lord as I would never use the Green Knight as himself anyway. I like the pose of this model, it looks like he's preparing to engage a great opponent and cut off his head.

Usual Kit:
  • Barded Warhorse
  • Shield
  • Virtue of Heroism
  • Gromril Great-Helm
  • Sword of Swift Slaying

-Prophetess Lauren-

For this conversion, I used the old Fey Enchantress model. I replaced the sword with a wood elf hero sword, replaced the chalice with a wood elf spellsinger staff, replaced the head with a glade guard head without armour or hood and rotated the body. I sculpted the hair with some cheap plastic putty that's really easy to use. I thimk I'm going to change her robes to be white with gold trim to make the model more interesting.

-Sir Armande, Battle Standard Bearer of Gawian's Court-

Sir Armande is a Grail Paladin who carries the army battle standard. Making the standard was reasonably simple. I used a metal frame that I found in my dad's masses of bits boxes and a spare high elf silver helm lace arm. Other than that, he's just an old Grail Knight model. I gave him a cross as his standard based on "the True Cross," a relic from the crusades.

usual kit:
  • Barded Warhorse
  • Enchanted Shield
  • Dawnstone
This kit gives him a 1+ re-rollable armour save but he lacks offensive power. I might go back to using him with:
  • Barded Warhorse
  • Charmed Shield
  • Dawnstone
  • Sword of Might
This kit is more expensive but gives him a 2+ re-rollable aromour and strength 5.

-Sir Vallis-

Sir Vallis was a very easy conversion, all I had to do was put a knight of the realm head on a man at arms body. This Paladin is very useful when I'm stupid enough to take men at arms because he gives them a tiny bit of actual combat effectiveness but mainly, a good leadership without having to babysit them with a unit of knights. giving him the Crown of Cammand would also help if I am using the men at arms in horde formation as I doubt I'm going to be winning comabts much.

-Questing Knights WIP-

At least until the next book I'm going to be using these as cheap Paladins with great weapons to help my lances against stronger foes, like Warrioirs of Chaos for example. Having two in a unit along with either Sir Armande or Lord Gawain adds heaps of combat power as well as better protection for the unit.
I have painted them so far with a brown coat as questing knights will get very dirty. I am going to 'clean' them up a bit by adding patches of white as they wouldn't be coated in mud.

My painted army so far...
